The State Bank of Pakistan has recently issued a statement clarifying the recent reports circling social media about charging customers on balance inquiry through ATMs.
The spokesperson said that the State Bank of Pakistan had not given any instruction to any bank regarding the deduction of any amount on balance inquiry and general transaction.
News is circulating on Social Media that the State Bank has asked banks to deduct Rs 2.5 on every transaction and balance inquiry through ATMs. The report further suggested that the bank would start deduction from 1st February, as HBL has begun implementing the directives.
It is also important to mention that news about the State Bank of Pakistan claiming that the SBP has issued directives for banks to start charging customers on transaction and balance inquiry were also circulating, confusing people.
